About Deborah Bigeleisen

Since childhood, I have loved working with color, design, and texture, deriving inspiration from the colors and patterns in nature. That brought me to my first career as a textile designer and owner of my own design company in New York City. As an artist, I work in oils because I love the sensual physical quality of the medium. For me they are a vehicle for pure expression. Drawing inspiration from the techniques of the 17th Century Dutch Master Artists and the incredible depth and luminosity achieved in their paintings through as many as 40 layers of glazing, I approach my painting in a similar classic manner.

Like the Dutch Masters who were known for their portraits, I too prefer to explore and magnify the beauty of a single blossom, and at times a pair of blossoms for the added romance they evoke. I look to capture my subject in just the right light, convey all its character, its fragility, its life, and its soul.

My love is to share the beauty that I see and preserve it though my painting. My joy is to bring never ending pleasure to the collector.
