Bucky Bowles Biography

Bucky is a full time artist and printing consultant who lives with his wife in their rustic home and studio on thirty acres just north of Columbus, Georgia. His watercolor and oil paintings reflect his love and appreciation for nature and the outdoor life. He paints from his many hunting and fly-fishing experiences and from nearly every trip he takes.
After graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in graphic design, Bucky began his career as a staff artist with an international soft drink company and later became an art director for an Atlanta advertising and design agency. He then joined a subsidiary printing company of Hallmark Cards as creative director. While there, he served in a variety of management and sales positions, including the art reproduction division that reproduced fine art reproductions for national art publishers, before leaving the company in the fall of 2000 to devote more time to his art.
In the early 1990s, Bowles was painting historical areas and scenes of Columbus, Georgia. By the mid-90s, commissioned paintings were taking more of his painting time and he began producing limited edition prints of some of his work. As a life long outdoorsman, his favorite painting subjects are sporting art and wildlife landscapes, and gradually his paintings began to shift to this subject matter. By 2000-2001, sporting art took most of Bucky’s painting time and he was accepted into several regional and national wildlife exhibitions. He does a number of commissioned paintings each year.
